Chapter 7 : Rescue

Chapter 7: Rescue "Madam, please, it's alright. The children are fine. They are just trying out some sweets in the kitchen." said Brielle calmly. She wasn't good at lying and didn't want to risk the woman's wrath further. Perhaps if she just let her know the children were safe, she would calm down and stop yelling. Brielle knew that the pantry, where the children actually were wasn't really inside the kitchen but beside it. There was no way she was going to let the horrible woman get to the children.   Not on my watch. The woman suddenly lifted a fat, ringed hand and slapped Brielle across the face. She used so much force that Brielle was knocked to the ground. She hit her head against a food trolley and rolled across the floor a little before the friction could stop her.  Was the woman insane? Hitting her in the middle of a restaurant?   Brielle struggled to get up, but her twisted ankle and the swelling pain on the back of her head was too much. The woma

Chapter 4 : New Girl

Chapter 4 : New Girl He's such a handsome man . Brielle shook her head in vain as she watched Jack walk towards the hotel. "That's the owner." remarked the Manager catching her staring. "Come on, let’s go." "Oh. Right." Brielle wasn't truly surprised.  Of course, he owned a twenty-storey luxury hotel, that's just what billionaires did as side investments.  Brielle followed the Manager into the elevator, the doors closing as Jack Dixon stepped into the hotel lobby. The elevator stopped at the fourteenth floor and the attendant ushered them out. Brielle let out a surprised gasp.  "It's beautiful." she said. One side of the entire restaurant was made completely of glass. The beautiful city shone under the afternoon sun as she looked through them. It was like a view from a hill top. The tables were arranged near the glass so every customer could enjoy the magnificent scene. Brielle couldn't help but be mesmerized by

Chapter 2 : Surprise

Chapter 2 Brielle felt the temperature drop by at least ten degrees as she met his cold black eyes. He was standing at least a foot away, his tall frame obstructing the view. Not that he was bad to look at though. Just a bit scary. "Are you the woman who brought my father here?" he drawled. Brielle shivered at the tone of his voice.  "If you are talking about the elderly man who collapsed at the park this morning, then yes, I did." she said, rubbing her palms together nervously. She berated herself for swooning briefly over his handsome, clean shaved face. His attire and height made him look like a male model, she usually drooled over in magazines. Suits did wonders for men, pity so few of them realized it.   "I cannot thank you enough for your help." he said monotonously, his stony eyes boring into hers. Brielle suppressed a shudder.    "Really?" she couldn't help herself. "You sure look unhappy about it." "I a

Andrea Belle's Corner : Book 1 - Preface

#3 on Featured list! "I need you to be my wife." he said lifting her chin up, forcing her to look at him. "But, we don't love each other." protested Brielle as he crashed his lips against her own.  She couldn't think as she kissed him back, intoxicated by his scent and the skillful way his body moved against her own.  "Please." he said huskily looking into her eyes. "Say yes."  "Yes." Brielle found herself saying. After all she never had a choice when it came to him.          ***  After Brielle rushed an elderly man to the hospital, she used up all her savings to foot the bill.  But she didn't expect the man's son to arrive, within minutes of her payment.       He's rich, he's handsome and he's single. He's the biggest businessman in the continent. And the elderly man she rescued was his beloved father. A simple thank you and a cheque would not suffice.      She's too simple for her own good and he&#

Twist in Fiction - The Unsinkable Cat

The Unsinkable Cat My fourteen-year-old owner, Esmeralda Berkley, is an heiress. She has always lived a life of luxury, but despite it all, she is kind and loving. Her parents try not to deny her, because she seldom asks for anything extravagant. When there was news of the world’s best ship setting sail to the Americas, Esmeralda made a rare request to go. Her family talked about it and decided they would send her with her friend Rose Bukater. Rose was getting married in America, and Esmeralda was to return home after the wedding. I am Esmeralda’s favourite pet. Granted, I am her only pet, but she loves me very much. I am a fluffy ginger cat, sprightly on my feet and very huggable. Esmeralda wanted to take me with her so her parents convinced the Captain to let me on. The day the Titanic was to set sail, my tail was twitching. It was a bad sign and I tried to tell Esmeralda. It was futile, because she was in love with ship already. “Oh Ginger,” she exclaimed. “Look how grand it

Sunday Favourite - Ivory Road by King Charles (Song)

A lyrical genius, musician King Charles combines happy tones and melodies to bring forth a wonderful song. At first listen King Charles takes us on a gentle journey of words and in a subsequent listen it feels as though we belong in the world that is created.  Track number 3 of his 2011 debut album Loveblood, the buzzing happy tune paints a picture and tells a story. Producer Mathew Wilder adds a unique touch to an otherwise almost acoustic performance. While it has been many years since the song has released, I stumbled upon an extended version on YouTube that has a few more verses. As a writer myself, I adore words of any kind and an extra verse upon one of my favourite songs is delightful to find. The song may seem long in its 3 minutes and 59 seconds, at first glance, however, one quickly forgets the time as the song picks up speed around the 36th second mark. The first half of the song is peppy and a song to a lover, where they use similes and juxtapose words to show one's lov
